Destiny: Illusions

There were aliens, space wars, cutting edge technologies, and clones. The plot was developed well and made a solid foundation for the future books in the series.

Destiny: Illusions begins in the very near future, with Earth slowly developing into a utopia society. The old world traits that marred society - hunger, war, disease - have all but been eradicated along with the scourge that is global warming. With such debilitating attributes removed, humanity enjoyed decades of exponential progress across all fields of development.

This growth led to the exploration of space outside the Solar System, and the eventual first contact and befriending of a nearby alien race - the Peridians of Saffron. More advanced than humanity, the Peridians nevertheless guide humanity as they venture further into deep space.

This idealistic paradise enjoyed on both Earth and Saffron is ripped apart brutally and without warning when an ancient civilisation returns to the Milky Way Galaxy. Intent on punishing humanity for the sins of their ancestors long ago, Earth president Mulgrew rallies both the people and military for a war in which the odds are insurmountable.

Mulgrew dispatches Earth's latest and most advanced starship under the command of famed captain Johnston to the forefront of the crisis while preparing Earth for full annihilation.

Planets collide, eventually setting both Earth and Saffron on a collision course with each other, all while the forces of the ancient civilisation race towards Earth.

Mulgrew must face the judgement of self appointment superior beings, intent on punishing humanity for a crime committed long ago.

"This is an alternate reality novel so big it takes up residence in reality and stays there."
